Unless they use promotional codes or unique toll free numbers per campaign, most results are non-empirical in nature and more general. Jim at Widgets Inc ran a new promotion in an industry magazine. Widget Inc saw an increase in sales in the following month but with no true data to support the increase. If a special landing page online had been implemented for example: widgetinc. com/special_promo.1, Jim could have tracked the success at best thru the online channel to get the overall impact of that ad.
